Can you rent a Lamborghini at 18 in California?

Platinum Exotics · Updated October 18, 2026

Yes, at Platinum Exotics. You need to be 18 or older, have a valid driver's license, and carry full-coverage insurance that extends to rental cars. There's no 21+ or 25+ tier here. The full rental requirements are short, and they're the same three things for every car in the fleet. One honest note: many rental companies set higher minimum ages, so check the terms wherever you book.

What you need at 18

Three things, and age is the easy one. First, a valid driver's license, which we check at handoff. Second, full-coverage auto insurance, meaning collision and liability rather than liability-only, that extends to vehicles you rent. Not every policy does. Call your insurer before you book and ask the question in exactly these words: "does my coverage transfer to a rental vehicle?" If the answer is yes, you're most of the way there. Third, the refundable security deposit, which is listed on each car's page and held separately from the rental rate: $1,000 on most Lamborghinis, $2,000 on the Lamborghini Urus (White), and $5,000 on the Lamborghini Aventador SV. It comes back after the car is returned as it left.

That's the whole list. No young-driver surcharge, no separate underage rate, no extra paperwork because of your birth year. An 18-year-old renter signs the same digital contract as a 48-year-old one.

If your insurance doesn't extend to rentals

This is the step that trips people up, so sort it before you pick a date. Some policies cover rentals fully, some only partially, and some not at all, and the only way to know is to ask your insurer directly. If your own policy doesn't qualify, the straightforward fix is a parent or another adult whose policy does: they become the renter and the driver, and the requirements apply to them. What we can't do is hand the keys to someone who isn't on the contract, so plan around who will actually drive.

Which Lamborghini to start with

The practical first Lamborghini is the Urus: 5 seats, an SUV you can park and live with, from $995 a day. The Lamborghini Urus (Grey) is the entry point. The Huracán, from $1,195 a day, is the two-seat supercar, and the Lamborghini Huracán (Pink) or the open-top Lamborghini Huracán Spyder (Black) is the one to book when the day is about the drive. If you're weighing the two, we wrote a full comparison in Huracán vs Urus: which to rent, and every rate, tier, and deposit sits in one table in what a Lamborghini rental costs. The whole range is on the Lamborghini fleet page, and Lamborghini rental in Orange County covers local delivery.

What it costs, start to finish

Here's a worked example straight from the fleet data. The Lamborghini Urus (Grey) for one day is $995. That includes 100 miles; extra miles on this car run $5 each, and across the Lamborghini range the overage is $3 to $10 per mile, always listed on the car's page. The $1,000 deposit is held separately and refunded after return. There's no charge to request the reservation itself, and nothing is billed until availability, your documents, and the dates are confirmed with you directly.

Keep the car longer and the daily rate falls: about 10% off at 3 to 4 days, 15% at 5 to 6, and 20% at 7 plus. A one-day rental is the minimum, and a single day makes a perfectly good first rental.

How the handoff works

Same steps whether you come to the showroom at 1916 Placentia Ave, Ste A in Costa Mesa or have the car delivered: we verify your license, you sign the digital contract, we walk around the car together, and then you get the keys. Delivery runs by appointment across Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Inland Empire, and delivery details are confirmed with you after booking. Have your license and proof of insurance ready on your phone and the paperwork takes minutes. More general questions are answered on the FAQ page, or request a reservation and we'll text you within the hour.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a Lamborghini at 18?

Yes. Renters must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license and full-coverage insurance that extends to rental vehicles. There is no 21+ or 25+ tier at Platinum Exotics.

Do I need my own insurance?

You need full-coverage insurance (collision and liability) that extends to rental vehicles. It can be your own policy or, if yours doesn't qualify, a parent or another adult with qualifying coverage can be the renter and driver.

How much is the deposit for an 18-year-old?

The same as for everyone, set per car: $1,000 on most Lamborghinis, $2,000 on the white Urus, and $5,000 on the Aventador SV. It is refundable and held separately from the rate.

Can my parent rent it for me?

Yes, if they meet the requirements and they are the one driving. The renter on the contract is the driver; we can't hand keys to someone who isn't on it.
